Home Services Workers:
Get your eight hours of training online!

The 11 courses in the Eight-Hour Training for New Home Services Workers in Illinois provide eight hours of total online training. This helps meet the requirements for Section 245.71 Qualifications and Requirements for Home Services Workers, available here. However, hands-on demonstrations from a qualified individual may be necessary before home services workers provide certain services for clients, including tasks such as, personal care, transferring, adaptive equipment use, emergency procedures and other tasks required by the supervisor. Home Health Aides, Nursing Assistants, Health and Hospice Paraprofessionals, Personal Care Workers and Hospice Volunteers:

RNs and LPNs:

IHHC Online Academy Professional course content meets the requirements for contact hours for the state of Minnesota through Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota. New administrative rules in Illinois are expected to be released in 2010. At that time, it will be determined whether the courses also meet Illinois requirements. For this reason, we encourage you to keep the course syllabus and earned certificate for your records.

Getting Started
It's easy, just follow the steps below.
  1. Get your username and password from your supervisor or education coordinator.
  2. Read the Student Guide (here) or watch the demo (here).
  3. Login below.
  4. Click on Eight-Hour Training for New Home Services Workers in Illinois for Home Services Workers, or click on the Course of your choice for Home Health Aides, Nursing Assistants, Health and Hospice Paraprofessionals, Personal Care Workers, Hospice Volunteers and Professionals.


Each course includes a quiz that must be passed by 70%, but can be taken as many times as necessary. After completion of each quiz, you can print a certificate to keep for your records.

Also, you do not have to take an entire course at one time. You can save your work! Then, you can continue where you left off anytime you want. The computer will keep track of each course you've completed.

If you need logins for your employees, please use this form, enter your employee(s)' names, and submit the form by email (preferred) or print the form and fax it to 217-528-6545. Your usernames and passwords will be sent back to you as soon as possible. Please allow 48 hours for processing.

If an employee is no longer employed with your organization, please email Micah Roderick in order to terminate the username and password. This is necessary because usernames and passwords are unique to each individual and organization and cannot be transferred or recycled.
